| Cheers Keith.
I will try and get down Weds if I can, time is a little short this week as starting an hour earlier but will see.
Neil are you around at all mate ?
No check needed Saturday as Joe in bringing some people from the Ash down to see what we do, they have a trap going in at some stage.

| Just ten little wrigglers this morning and what a lovely morning it is and to be out on the river. Water is still running down the new eel pass so that may be affecting results. I don't remember seeing it before but there is a leak in the eel channel above the trap. Its on the join where the angle changes. Hi to the 2 guys in the boat who waved to me, sorry but I couldn't quite make out who you were. For Keith - 1 * 105 2 * 100 2 * 85 1 * 80 4 * 75 | |

| Thanks chaps.
As the numbers are low will leave it until Saturday as have some guests coming down.
Neil we are meeting to discuss if a trap could be added to the boat rollers pass, logistically I think difficult but will see.

| 19 today folks, visitors suitably impressed by all you volunteers work despite the rain. Seems we are centre of attention with all the number of wrigglers through the trap this year Joe said that if they are under 120mm they are considering just a count rather than a measure, makes sense as all the same age ie 1-2 years. Will update on this shortly. Maybe more people coming down next week so will advise if and when we need any checks, and or the day they are coming down. | |

| Hi Dave et al, I saw this swimming in the margins the other night, it looked a bit odd as it was so white, so i netted it for a closer look and was surprised to see it's pink fins and very light colour. Was only about 20 inches long. My first reaction was it was an albino eel, or if not then maybe some other type of eel or different strain, perhaps the ZSL guys might be interested, just wondered if it was common or a rarity. Can't seem to rotate the photo, sorry you'll have to crane your neck! | |

| Robin you do specialise in the unusual You caught a barbel that coughed up a perch, you caught a massive trout from the Crane, you're the only person I know this year to catch a Thames catfish....and now this And the thing is, they've all had photographic evidence so we know they're true. Do you ever catch 5lb bream like the rest of us? | |

| The river never parted, Izaak never went for a stroll, but a diesel spillage stopped my morning's fishing. Reported to the EA and they were soon on it. Richard | |

| Robin I sent your pic to Joe, be good to see what he thinks.
Checked the trap today and 66 all under 110mm, the flow over boat rollers has stopped so guess thats why we have more. The rollers are up for discussion so will let you know. | |

| Message from Joe for the Eel team...
Hi Everyone
Hope you all had a good bank holiday .
We are into the tail end of the monitoring season now. Traps will be coming out and pumps turning off at the end of September.
I’m just starting to properly going through this year’s data, which is fascinating . If you have kept your own catch records I’ll be contacting you in the coming weeks to check our totals tally with yours.
I shall feedback everything on October 18th . I hope you have invited all our wonderful volunteers to the zoo for the day? The timing is normally 10:30 to 2pm but I shall confirm nearer the time. In addition to discussing the data, Darryl Clifton-Dey will give us practical guidance on how we can help with the Thames (and Medway) eel management plan and, in the spirit of biodiversity, we will embrace the trout with Andy Thomas of the Wild Trout Trust (WTT) telling us how the WTT can work with you to improve our rivers.
Thank you so much as ever for all your work on behalf of the eels.
All best
Joe

| Hi Alex no probs, let me know if you can make it midweek and we can meet up.
Only 2 today, the tail water is very low so suspect that is why.
Patrick and me managed to get the syphon working again even though the head water is normal, gives that little bit extra.
Cheers | |
