| More information on the eel trap please. I am curious, please can you tell me on what part of the weir is the trap to be sited, will it be a part of the existing Eel pass? Will the new trap and its construction interfere with fishing by Lock and Weir Fishing Permit holders? Thanks in anticipation of any information. | |

| John I will find out for sure but imagine part of the existing pass. Our contact is away until next week when we will be speaking to him.
Cheers | |

| Is this still the same one that runs up the wall by the steps, I have a couple fitted on a weir near my house on the Wandle. | |

| The Eel trap is going in the week after next so very good news. Looking for local volunteers to be trained in capturing and recording the eels and aspects of health and safety. The trap will need to be monitored twice a week and is important as part of the overall Thames monitoring of migration. I am happy to be part of this of course but cant do it alone. Hands up please gents if you are local and want to be part of this important fish conservation work, its a fantastic opportunity for the TAC, so your club. Like many things we a do, a unique opportunity There will be two training sessions, one midweek, one on the weekend. | |

| I'd be happy to attend a training session so I could be called up to attend on the odd occasion no else was around, but with a journey time of about half an hour each way, I wouldn't want to be a regular monitor. | |

| Folks, the last time I was working at Molesey I had a chat with Joe (ZSL) and said that I would try to lay my hands on a couple of lifejackets (which will have to be worn by everyone). However, it would be helpful if those planning to attend, and who have their own 'jacket, could bring it along. | |

| When I was at the EA Waterways Office this morning, I picked up a couple of spare 'jackets so anyone who doesn't have their own should not be dissuaded from coming along. | |

| Bring your wellies for Saturday, lifejackets are being supplied by the ZSL Had training today with Jeff and Mark Anderson and an official handover so amazing that we have finally taken this on. A few important pointers... There will be a rota of people going to check the trap. For fish welfare, it will need checking at least twice a week. Only people trained by the ZSL can check the trap. All the data should be reported back to TAC admin, then we will report to the ZSL. We will start a new thread with reports of each visit and what you find, take your camera. Be also good to get the weather conditions recorded and anything else that is relevant, maybe river level. Steve H is your TAC lead for Saturday and Joe from the ZSL who runs this programme will be doing the training. Thanks for getting involved and Enjoy Thanks also to the Molesey Lock keepers (Jeff) for looking after us | |

| hi all just done the training for bow locks (no jokes please) on the river lee. there was about 12 of us and joe spotted my TAC t-shirt and mentioned the molesey trap. it was interesting to see before the decline the roding had a lions share of elvers going by there traps there in the 90.s. when i do the estuary survey we might get more than one small eel this time. | |

| The parking bays in front of the lock are now permit only, you can sometimes find a space in the road opposite. | |
