ive got this week off work, and will be fishing most days.
the question is,what do i fish for?.i think the conditions have thrown a few spanners in the works affraid
i was hoping to go for perch, but water is very coloured? i know zander feed in coloured water.
maybe ill take a feeder rod, float rod and a carp rod???

It's got to be barbel or zander really . More chance of a pick up using a small roach deadbait as opposed to a livebait in coloured water . I like to inject fish oils into a dead roach to make them easier to find in the coloured water .
I fancy having a go this week with small fresh deadbaits in the margins as long as water deep enough still . It is pushing really hard again , just as it was about to calm down :-(

Well guys , the section of river in question has now dropped the red boards , and no rain forecast all week next week (at the moment , touch wood) so when I finish Wednesday morning it should be fishable !
Not expecting it to drop to normal run off levels but the flow will of slowed up enough to fish for preds ! Or sea trout lol !
Ill be down there thurs fri and sat for as many tides as possible as they will be huge also :-)

chucking it through this afternoon, and even though the river height was about 1m below normal low tide, the river was the colour of milky tea and bombing it through. It did not look to good tbh

Hi Neil. Personally I wouldn't regard Gibel as an invasive species. They've been in our waterways for a long, long time, it's just that they get misidentified so often, a bit like Silver Bream. I've been catching them for over 25 years in the stillwaters of one of my clubs (almost certainly the same one Willie visited as it's the only place I've fished where they are known as Gibel, though I've caught them at many other waters too) and they have done no discernible harm to the ecosystems of those lakes.

Cheers
Dave

They look a little like bitterlings? Which are an indigenous species.

That's an unusual looking one, 99% of the Gibel in there don't have the fan tail.

Well , back to the draw off thread - river looks spot on in my intended areas tomorrow thank god !! About 2' visibility in my chosen swim believe it or not !
River on the semi is slowing up a lot , well , compared to last week of course .
And we have huge tides this week with little or no rain forecast so it zander the next four days :-)

Hi Iain - it is navigable definately but unless you know the river well I'd wait till the tides coming in .
There's big humps and bumps all along the semi tidal , especially in the weir , as I found out a few years ago in Jims boat when we hit into a submerged load of huge rocks , 4ft of water under the boat then directly into 3 inches with huge boulders ! at low tide run off you should have plenty of water to go afloat but be careful :-)

Take a look about half-way down this page, Eel pie island 2 years ago:
http://twickerati.wordpress.com/gallery/twickenham-oct-2010-photos/

I just found this really good one of Teddington last year - who's that in the boat?
http://teddingtontown.co.uk/2011/11/11/who-pulled-the-plug/

Finally - search for "20/11/2011" (about 1/5 of the way down this page):
