Quote :: I wanted to make you aware that today we have gone live with our storm discharge map, showing the location and status of each of the consented overflows in the Thames region. We are the first water company to share this data on this scale and alongside this we have made the data available in an API format for organisations that wish to utilise the information on their own platforms.

This has been over a year in the making, working closely with local stakeholders/community groups and learning from 6 trial locations around Oxford to support the bathing water application. Certainly this not the end of the journey, nor do we see this as the final result. We will gather feedback and aim to continually improve the system finding better ways to share data. In the meantime hopefully it can be seen as a step forwards, allowing the public to make more informed decisions about interacting with their local watercourse and of course highlights the need for investment to tackle the issues.

As with any new system we may experience some teething issues so if you notice anything please do let us know so we can get it resolved.
