| Yes mate been thinking the same myself . May have my first week off barbel fishing and fish the second week for the run off . Saying that - hardly any rain due from now till draw off so could calm down considerably . Will have to see ;-) | |

| Cool - cheers Ashley !
I have to work this thurs fri sat and sun - then I'm all done for two weeks , gonna bait a local swim for barbel so I have a back up plan covered if the run off is unfishable . Not interested in the perch fishing during run off - just want that double figure zed . Good thing is unlike last year , temps are dropping to sub zero by this weekend so I'm told , so perfect . Last year I remember it was still fairly warm for the start and probably why we struggled . Time for the silly hats to come out and the Kelly kettle !!

| So much for my plan to find my mud weight. I'm stood on the wall at the end of Teddy weir and according to the tides table it's now low tide and yet the water seems no lower than a normal low tide. Have I misunderstood how the draw off works?
And when were the old barges removed from in front of the TV studios, they were there at the end if last season?

| Matthew and I have just been out at the Richmond Lock end, it was definitely a draw-off low tide at that time but didn't seem to be a particularly low one today. Much less exposed than on previous trips. Tide table says low was +0.04m @9:46am. It's lower on Wednesday (-0.14m @10:55) Thursday (-0.23m @11:43) and Friday (-0.20m @12:28) - hopefully that extra 20cm will make all the difference. | |

| They went the end of last season , was there when they broke it down m8 . What's happened to the draw off levels I wonder ? I was planning on going down there tomorrow !! Neil - what's the flow like at teddington ? Is it back to normal or still pushing through ? Too fast for a light stick float would u say ? | |

| It was flowing well over the overspill weir, the large gate half way up was a torrent and some of the smaller gates were open. I took a photo on my phone so I'll see what that shows and post it up. | |

| There's a fair bit of land water coming down which will inevitably hold the level up. | |

There was only one Neil and it was moved February (approx)! Me and Adrian saw it being dragged up the river, and then when we had a look down at Teddy... gone ( 2 + 2! The water is, even during the draw-off, still 3-4 foot deep in that spot Neil when the we have normal water levels at low tide. At the moment you've probably got a bit extra on there, and it won't be just a matter of wading for it at the moment... best of luck with that! :face: Richard

| Judging by the photo's, there's about 3 foot of difference? Plus it might be me on on the right hand boat, and Ashley on the left hand boat! Richard | |

| I spoke to Tedd Lock today. They're recording levels 3ft higher (at low water) than they'd expect during the draw off. They also raised 3 gates today so the level is on the up for the moment. | |

| Down at the Richmond end there are snags galore (wire mesh, etc.) exposed on the Surrey shore, with plenty of tangled line amongst it. Meanwhile on the Midlesex side there are a couple of discarded car batteries with plenty of religious relics (covering all the main ones, 2 Korans, statue of Jesus, various Hindu characters, a Hebrew star emblem)... Anyone fancy joining me for a bit of a clean-up? Spot the gripper-lead in the middle - already got that | |

| I'm sure I will be cursed if I pick them out, but, sorry, it's all litter innit? And anyway I didn't break the heads off ... as to the copies of the Koran in there, well given recent news stories about what happened when a copy was desecrated, that surprised me. A lot. Just don't steal Neil's holy mud weight. Only he can break the curse once it is recovered. | |
