Word from the ZSL is that the materials have been delivered and they intend to start the work on Monday 12th at Clattern Bridge at 10am.
Rich, Keith, are you OK to make that time?
Do you have your own waders you can bring?
If you obtain and keep a receipt the ZSL should be able to cover your parking fees for the hours worked.

It's only just occurred to me that I only have flimsy, breathable waders which, I suspect, are not really suitable. I have wellies but if there's a chance of borrowing size 9 or 10 waders it would be appreciated.

Guys Andy S is unable to next Weds due to work commitments, thanks for letting me know yesterday mate, not a problem as you have always got stuck in.

So who can offer help for the day, it's a 10am start in Kingston town centre where the Hogsmill goes under the road near the confluence with the Thames.

If you have not had any hands on experience before then it's a good chance to get involved. We would really appreciate it.

Eel wriggles round nobbles.  Up it goes.  Simple as that!

Earlier in the year we noticed that a similar one was being put in at Molesey up the boat lift, they had to gouge out a channel in the concrete at the top to send some flow down it.  But ever since then the level has been held so low that not a drop has passed over it.

This location is much better as there is always water flowing properly over the weir and no sluices to mess things up.

Probably a little more scientific than that John. In this case the sloped overspill was just smooth with no grooves or consistent crevices for the eels to use. They are pretty resourceful but here would just slide down again.

So what this does is give enough purchase that they, as Ed said, wriggle around he nobbles.

This is worth a read with the closest item being the Akwadrain plastic substrate, it's all very clever.

The more familiar Bristle board is used when the slope is more acute.
