| I thoughts RATS was the acronym for Rowers Against Thames Sewage, rather cynical of the NIMBYs to pinch it for Residents Against Thames Sewer. I took these photo's this afternoon from the towpath opposite Isleworth Ait. A series of strange disturbances in the surface of the water. Are these the submerged Mogden outlets? | |

| Sitting here on nights and almost spat out my sandwich after reading a comment in this report. http://hfconservatives.typepad.com/residents_first/2011/06/super-sewer-costs-set-to-skyrocket-despite-government-pressure.html'The news comes just days after the water company also revealed that as little as 5 percent of the fluid that flows into the river is sewage and residents questioned whether the ‘fish-kills’ that Thames Water trumpeted earlier this month were really as bad as reported.' They word 'trumpeted' , like it was something good? Time for these people to wake up an smell the coffee, yes many thousands of fish were killed, staggering. Rant over, back to work. | |

| just political fillybustering m8 however all the info is issued by thames water, so people are entitled to doubt it
but to quote a pensioner of 70 years of age, worried about water poverty, is clutching at straws and to argue about percentages of the constituents is akin to deciding whether to drink bleach or toilet cleaner
we need to get pro-active with these NIMBYS
strange how they dont voice the opinions of rowers or anglers

I would like to leve the cleanest pureist river for generations to come. in two hundred years the victorian sewers will still be in use with no dout, but if its not modernised then what. it's ony MONEY what ever the cost. I will stand here and call you a "NIMBY".

| Funny how the erstwhile msss pateman, whilst trying to get the works done in barn elms, has missed out the most obvious site, namely the "Hurlingham Club", of course she has, woud,nt want to upset her own kind. She does,nt come from "Sands End", just another wannabee yuppie who cant afford to live in Chelsea. I was born and raised on Carnwath rd and although i now live upstream, i,ve always lived next to the river and the river and rats go hand in hand, if you dont like rats, move. Maybe she should aim her grievances towards the powers that be and complain about the amount of domestic rubbish what is being dumped in the river, rats love rubbish. If they dont build the sewer there, they will put up more tower blocks, (foreign owned), and they are creeping further and further upstream, poor little josh will have to breath in more petrol fumes from the increased traffic they bring. Has she thought of that? For nimby,s read, "oh! golly gosh! my photos in the local press, will have to have a dinner party Darling. james | |

| For anyone who hasn't got time to read that, check this fact out from the document....
Just Hammersmith's pumping station alone pumped raw sewage into the river for 8 hours, at a rate of 1 builders skip-full every 2 seconds :face:

Ironic that Thames Water have included a couple of clips from our video in that....but if it helps the tunnel get built then all good.

| So it states that 'The average volume of storm sewage discharged into the Tideway is around 55 million cubic metres a year, between 2001 and 2009. This has adverse affects on tideway water quality and aquatic life. ' I think a cubic metre is equivalent to a tonne, so TW average is 39 million tonnes, is it understimated? Sure we have had this discussion before somewhere. | |

I don't know and it confuses me aswell but I do know Keith Arthur had to issue an apology to Thames Water in AT as he worked it out wrong the week before when he said it had been underestimated.

| One Cubic Metre of water is 1000 kilos or 1 tonne.
Sewage contains a very high percentage of water, 70 to 90% I'd guess.
The actual weight will depend on the specific gravity of the solids - if there are equal quantities of Floaters and Sinkers the weight will be 1 tonne, more floaters and it will be lighter, less floaters and it will be heavier.
It's still a lot of sh*t, whichever way you look at it................

| Correct, that's the beauty of SI units!
1 cubic metre of water weighs 1 metric tonne. 1 cubic metre is 1000 litres. 1 litre weighs 1kg.
