| Hi , I am booked in to fish Tidefest this year, I will be going there on Saturday 26th Sept to set up my rigs as the Low tide is at 9 am. Looking forward to this years event, as I could not make last years due to being in Jamaica.I fished the 1st two Tidefest's and got drawn on The Strand on the Green which normally produces the winner. Lets hope my Luck holds for this years. | |

| Ooh John, and others, FYI!.... Beware that Tidefest day this year co-incides with annual Thames Barrier testing day... so there will not be a full low tide. The barrier will close about an hour before low water at Woolwich and remain closed until 8pm. https://www.pla.co.uk/assets/5of2017-woolwichreach-environmentagency-thamesbarrierclosures.pdf Therefore the river level will only drop down to about half level, a bit like the semi-tidal above Richmond. Hopefully it will go down far enough to get on the river bed. There won't be so much moving down the beach to do though. Ed | |

| Just come back from Strand on the Green, lost three rigs in first hour, there was some tow bring down a lot of stuff. branches and a lot of snags. Managed one Bream of about 2 and half pounds ,then hooked anther tree and tightened up the clutch to get it in saving my rig.The only problem was I did not adjust the clutch again and yes hooked a big bream only to lose it near the net snapping a 6 pound hook length.Agggggh. | |

| All good learning! Hopefully with the barrier closed the flow will be much less and there will be fewer trees floating past! Here is a graph from 2014 giving an idea of what happens at Richmond when the barrier is closed - they close it at low tide so the level should stay fairly well down. | |

| Nice one Ed, There were two guys fishing with waders on and using float tactics so keeping off bottom. They had a lot of small stuff and hooked one small Bream, not good enough to win a match but they lost no gear.If the strong tide slows down on the day this could be a option balling in ground bait to try and draw the better fish in and keep them there. I will take a 2-3 gram stick float as a back up.The journey home was horrendous because of road closures along the embankment and city about 3 hours compared to hour and half normally. | |

| I drew peg 5 at Strand on the Green, which was a peg I fished a couple of weeks ago, I knew it was snaggy to my left and lost 3 x 90gram window feeders in the practice so i cast about 50 yards to my right fishing hair rigged lobworm. I had two skimmer bream in the 1st hour so it looked hopful.Another two skimmers in the next two hours then a small mirror carp, but the big bream did not make a appearance. The section was won on 19 pounds. In hindsight I should have followed the guy from southern Ireland to the right of me who fished closer in the last hour and fed over the top to pick up three Bream.Maybe next year. | |

The guy on peg 2 who won Tidefest the 1st Year, was 3 pegs down from me and said at the end of the match he had 15 eels up to 2 pounds and wish he could have weighed them in. I had one eel of about a pound. Its good to see the eels are returning in numbers. | |
