Patrick, Matthew & me checked the trap this morning

11 elvers, 1 mitten crab, about 8 bullhead, and one other fry which we thought likely to be a barbel.

Not sure its a Barbel as the markings on the tail, but also no clue what else it could be.

I think it's a Stone Loach, the tail doesn't look like it has lobes but it's difficult to be sure from the angle of the photo.

Chaps I am going down this morning after work, so no need for the weekend. Flower show is on so its going to be mobbed, little café should be loving it though, good for them.

Will stick up what I find, may go down, Monday or Tuesday as well. Got some bigger tides so might see a few extra coming up.

Ed and Patrick down tomorrow, I am shift changes again so hence posting at 0400.

Hopefully the eels keep coming, strange we have not had one of those 25-30+ days, some big tides next week or so.

On my lonesome today. Fortunately there were only 3 eels to measure. 1@75, 1@80 & 1@110. The cafe was closed due to unsafe trees believe it or not. Apparently a branch fell out of one and suddenly the whole area from steves house down to the war memorial became unsafe, untill an outfit from Milton Keynes! Could come and make it safe. Trees were the E.A.s responsibility so it must have been their go to contractor for the south east. More good use of our licence dollars.

Brentford have had over 4,000 eels in the last week. Must try to make it Saturday.

It impossible to put a number on it but surely the run up the side of the canoe ramp must be responsible for a large drop in numbers going through the trap.
