We were working in the Yeading Brook (which feeds the Crane) - installing brash berms to narrow the previously dredged channel.  This increases the water flow speed, which reduces siltation and thereby improves the habitat.

Crane Valley Project - Volunteer Dates - Feb 2017

Creation of river habitat structures (brash berms) - meet at Gutteridge Wood Nature Reserve, Uxbridge  

10:30 AM – 3:30 PM on the following dates:
* Tue 7th February
* Wed 8th February
* Thurs 9th February
* Tue 14th February
* Wed 15th February
* Thurs 16th February
* Tue 21st February
* Wed 22nd February
* Thurs 23rd February
* Tue 28st February
* Wed 1st March
* Thurs 2nd March

What to Bring:
Please bring a packed lunch and wear clothes suitable for working outdoors.

What we will provide:
We will provide you with a pair of chest waders, protective gloves and refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits).

Volunteer Registration:
If you are not already registered as a London Wildlife Volunteer please fill out and return the form attached to this email.

Volunteer Expenses:
If you have been volunteering and have expenses to claim. Please use the form attached to this email.
This should be returned to me to sign off before submitting to LWT for payment.
We will reimburse you for your travel and lunch expenses up to £4. Receipts for all expenses must be provided.

Confirmation and Cancellation:
Please confirm which days can attend. We may need to cancel a volunteer day due to bad weather and we will need to phone you to tell you this.

Further Information:
London Wildlife Trust is pleased to announce another exciting programme of river improvement works this winter. We will be working at seven sites along the River Crane and Yeading Brook, in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond.
