| It was the Molesey regatta yesterday which fouled my anchor somewhat, anyway Nicola bravely went to count the eels. She found, 1@75, 1@85, 1@95, 2@100, 4@110 & 1@130. | |

| 4 today but flow is very little. Both syphon pipes are not working but checked and top end still in the water. Ed need you down there mate with the syphon plunger thing | |

| I think flow is a key reason they come through the trap. I'm gonna be busy at work Thursday and Friday, but can probably work out Eds pumpy thing if he's not available. After all I believe he posted a tutorial on it some moons ago. | |

| Matthew & me going down there now Update: 2 eels in the trap, 115mm and 100mm https://goo.gl/photos/H2qRd1JKDMBiAA4u6Re-started both syphons wiith some difficulty - the larger one did not want to keep going - dealt with that by ensuring that the lower end is also under water. Could benefit from a cable tie to hold the 2 pipes together up the top end as, whilst we watched, the more flexible green pipe was swept out of its slot in the girder by the current change when the lock operated, and broke the syphon again. Also removed the top plate and cleaned out plastic bags, leaves and sticks which were blocking all normal flow down the pass. Can't get down tomorrow but expecting a bumper result now  | |

| Well done Ed. Nicola and I went today, both siphons running well. Water level is low though. 21 eels. 1@70, 1@75, 3@80, 3@85, 6@90, 2@105, 2@110. So a good result. | |

| Nicola checked the trap today, I went to penton hook fishing. 1@175, 2@70 & 1@80 plus 2 bullheads and something she referred to as a fish. Dunno what variety. Happy days. | |

| Matthew & me went down Sunday quite a bit of leaves accumulated in the top of the pass again, gave it a nother clean-out 1 eel in the trap @100mm also found 5 eels on the sill 1@140, 3@90. 1 after packing away did not measure but do not think these count anyway. They can climb up side of bucket if water is high enough so imagine weir sill not being too much problem for them.  | |

| Met up yesterday am, 4 in the trap and a plethora of Mittens Ditching the midweek checks for now as the numbers have dropped right off, will be down next Saturday. Coffee shop is open again, result | |

| Working this weekend chaps, sorry so cant make it A date for your diaries, 11th Oct for the Eel conference at the zoo, guess what I am off so se you there The 2016 Citizen Science Eel Forum Zoological Society of London Tuesday, 11 October 2016 from 10:30 to 14:00 (BST) London, United Kingdom Hi Everyone, Unbelievably the summer is nearly over, just 4 weeks of eel monitoring left . Traps will be switch off or come out of the water on the 30th of September. In a couple of weeks I’ll be sending you the data we have from the ZSL website so that we can compare with any records that some of you keep on site. Hopefully there won’t be too many discrepancies this year. Lots of people have already signed up for the eel forum- if you or your volunteers haven’t please od try and join us it. | 9 eels in the trap today; 2@90, 3@100, 3@110 and 1@130. plus there was a falconry exhibition at the cricket club, where there were some very impressive looking birds and some very slow service for coffee. | |
