| Very enjoyable evening last night, thanks to everyone who came Martin is a top fella and very passionate about his angling and the issues that affect us all. One of the best things ever done by the Angling Trust getting him onboard

| Really good evening - great to hear all about what the AT are up to from someone with so much enthusiasm and drive as Martin.
Considering what a short time they have been going, their precarious financial situation (now stabilised, but with nothing to spare) and the relatively miniscule %'age of anglers that join as individual members it's absolutely amazing what they have and are achieving. Martin with ihis contacts & persuasiveness he certainly seems to be able to access and influence people in high places. He even had me fully behind their Cormorant Campaign - something I've bee fairly ambivalent up until now.
If the above appears to be a puff to get more people to join the AT - well it is. Imagine what they could actually achieve with the backing & funds of a decent proportion of the country's anglers - say around a million membership similar to the RSPB. For a start they would/could have had a jolly good go at securing all the Cemex venues for continued angling access (one of their stated ambitions for the future regarding those venues not permanently lost to fishing). | |
