Cheers Andy Smile

Going to be very interesting as the saline limit is much higher up due to the low flows. Expect the unexpected Cool

It was a very hot day and the water was very clear.
Caught only juvenile flounder and one bullhead.
Pictures here.
Great to meet the EA guys though and the help was very much appreciated.

Very poor compared to years before. Did they have thoughts why?

I remember seeing gobies, bass, flounder, dace, bleak, stickleback, minnow, roach, perch all come out from the Richmond netting before.

Yes very disappointing. They thought it was because of the amount of water we've had down recently.
Personally I thought because the water was clear, no cover in that area, and it was a very bright day. If I was a fish I don't think I'd be hanging out just there, I'd be further along under the boats.
On the bright side, the bullhead and flounder are good water quality indicators. Dissolved oxygen was very high, 112% I think.

Anyone going along today, Kew (Cafe Rouge, Putney) 1:00? It would be good to have at least one TAC person turn up to each of these. They can just about do the job with the 4 they have but a couple of helpers really helps. Get there about 20 minutes before and take your wellies (or waders +lifejacket if you have them).

Have to say, today's location is a bit ambiguous, Kew and Putney aren't anywhere near one another; Checking the Cafe Rouge website I guess they mean 85 Strand on the Green, Kew Bridge, W4 3PH opposite Oliver's Island.

hi all attended my 2nd survey and this year i was handed a life jacket and put to work. i noticed the fish were much bigger but not as many species. we had some nice mullet just under a pound some large flatfish and tons of bass around 2ozs upto about 8ozs. i was shown an estuary rag worm and told it was a top bait until they found a peeler crab. when i arrived they told the others who i had not met last year that i brought them luck and this year we netted a butter fish. we use a rod and line they use a net however the magic of an unusual capture is the same. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Anyone know the EA thoughts on why the sample sites we know of turned up less species?

We've seen trend data for the electro fishing from Hurley to Teddington but would be good to see the stats for the tidal nettings over the years.

on the estuary the EA said we would see more species in the late summer/autumn as we did have 14 species last year with about 6 this year however we did have a rare butter fish which some of the EA staff had not seen before.
