| To kick off the Autumn events, we have our first social evening at the Bell Inn. As we did last year with the EA, this year the ZSL have kindly agreed to come down and give a talk about their Eel monitoring programmes on the Thames along with other work, such as invasive species. They have got a lot of interest in the fish kill in June and how this affected the river, the drop in Elvers and of course your views. We hope to be part of the Elver monitoring next spring with a TAC trap on one of the weirs, so will be a great opportunity to find out more and ask loads of questions. And as always a great social evening in a great venue and no doubt plenty of fishy banter | |

| folks, these guys'n'gals are the nearest thing to an independent scientific group working on the thames that there is the EA are excellent, but are a government organisation
we all know what fish are in the river, and how big they grow, but what we dont know is, what is their home like, these people have some of the answers, particularly on the tidal
if you wanna know what makes the river tick, what species are on the decline, or want to assist with their projects, particularly the elver ones, here's your chance
as usual our mini merchandiser will be present, and if you've any tackle you dont want, bring it along and we'll make sure it gets to a youngster

| spot on connor it aint gonna be an evening of devasting rigs and pukka pics, they're in the weekly mags regularly this will be where we learn those slightly of topic titbits, that can transform a session
if you compare our fish captures to tiles on a roof, then these guys'n'gals understand everything beneath

| folks, if you didnt go, you missed a right laugh the fella from the ZSL, joe, was brilliant, and it was a two way sharing of information, with him particularly interested in our observations of wide mouth and pointed mouth eels nigel botherway donated prizes for the raffle, so a big up to him john from dakota reprographics made a special journey to drop of a sample hoodie, mucho appreciated m8
plans are afoot for our club to monitor some ZSL eel traps, which will probably begin in april next year, when the elvers begin to run they are particularly keen to get help with the scheme that operates on the river lea, so if thats your manor guv, get in touch with admin please

| Chaps
Have been chatting today with Joe from the ZSL and to thank him again for our night.
A TAC Eel trap is progressing and will be more updates later in the year.
What he did ask was if anyone was interested in monitoring on the River Lee. It would be a firm commitment of visiting two days a week, so if you are able to get involved and live close, let us know
Cheers | |
