| Putting this one in the diary early folks.
This will be a day to get into and around the spawning channel, get the old growth and overhang removed and take out obstructions etc. Also some of the swims needs trimming, branches removed.
Under the EA guidance as always, bring your waders and stove for the teas
Cheers

| Reminder folks this is in a few weeks time.
The work needs to be done before the flora and fauna starts to regrow, so improving habitat ahead of the spawning season.
We will be in the river as well as on the bank, if you have chest waders bring them down, we have a couple of TAC pairs.
If anyone has a petrol strimmer, it may come in handy, bow saws etc. we will also look to tidy up any overhang on swims within reason.
A full clean up as well
Cheers

| Great stuff Ian.
Timing to follow.
Heard from the EA today that they will be able to provide some tools and we have a few. If anyone has a bow saw, loppers etc, be very welcome. The EA fisheries are going down midweek to have a look at the channel so will be taking their lead.
The channel is fairly unique on the Thames as being purpose built for fish to spawn and use as a safe haven. We are there to project , improve and conserve, these habitats are the lifeblood of he main river.
Looking forward to it. | |

| A bit of both. So in the river cutting and sawing back, upon the bank helping to remove it and at the end of the channel stooping it going into the main river. For that I thought maybe large old landing nets, I have a couple and metal handles.
We have 3 pairs of chesties that have been donated overtime, the EA are bringing down lifejackets.

| Thanks chaps
Lets meet at 08:30 for a 09:00 start.
Parking is an issue as they have closed off the places where we were never meant to park.
So parking is in the surrounding rounds, then a short walk. So in Riverway or on the main Staines road.

| Hi chaps
Going to make it one hour later for the EA timing, so 09:30.
Looks bit wet so bear that in mind.
Timing is critical as its pre nesting season so an important event

| And... Willie and James A, picking them up Paul Sullivan and Jay Ian C Paul Snell If you have tools bring them down, it's going to be cutting back overhang vegetation, so bow saws, Hand sithes etc. If you have waders, then bring them down, we will be on the bank and in the river. Anyone with a camera bring it down, a few stoves and kettles maybe handy | |

| Hi John, Sutton - Penton Hook is bad. My honest opinion is hold off till the work we've got coming up on the Hogsmill as that'll be really easy for you. It might even be the Ewell end of the river Don't know when or if the Hogsmill work has been scheduled but it's soon. | |

Nice one Kevin - will be February and will confirm exact date when spoken to the EA. Found out today will be Worcester park stretch of the river. The 2 Cemex lads can't make it now to Penton Hook Sunday so if there's anyone else that can spare a couple hours this Sunday morning to clear a Thames spawning channel please step up
