one has to be reavy careful on wot ones says, but this is a fishing platform, this is to do with the two boys who died last year on the 20th

 River Guardians Reports 2011/12 - Page 9 Dsc_0182

the platform cannot be used as it is, if i move somethink out of the way and some one from the family turns up, wot happens next

A tricky one Keith,
I think whoever is responsible for the platform, should commision a small plaque, to be placed in the vicinity of the platform, and try and contact members of the deceased,s family and kindly request that floral tributes be placed there.
That rail looks a bit low.

Had a call last night about a burst water main and some sewage near a little watercourse at Walton. Seems it had flooded a field the river is very close by.

It is whats known as the Engine river and runs behind Cowley sale car park at Walton and exits into the marina.

Bit of a shock getting the call as thought. no not again. They had had not seen any problems and it was being pumped away.

When Keith turned up today we went and found it and had a look, but seems all clear, thankfully.

Heard from the EA who thanked us for the update, we are the eyes of the river lads.

If you guys hear or see anything, post it up, poaching, pollution or whatever, when you report it to the EA, get a ref number etc.

Cheers

When I was fishing the other end of the Cut opposite one of the Sheperton Weirs on Sunday evening a couple of contractors turned up investigating a reported leak of sewage into the river. I imagine it must be the same incident.

I had been wandering about casting a spinner & hadn't noticed anything untoward & neither had a couple of other static anglers near the car park, but the river was quite coloured & it had got dark by then. Also, as we pointed out, Walton Lane (the location the contractors had been given) is quite long, with other car parks along it's length. My map shows Cowley Sale being at the other end of the Desborough Cut, by Walton Bridge so it looks like they were in fact looking at the wrong end of the Lane to begin with.

Has the now colour gone from the river, as it appears to have done from Keiths pictures on the Walton Bridge thread?

the water is a bit murkey at shepponton lock, as there is a lot of water coming from the Way and Bourne, they both have a lot of rain run off in it, but the thames is still low and my pet snail is moving faster

done a shift in beverley brook today, gave it a right going over, got in the brook and walked and cleaned 500yards.
cant find my camera so no pics affraid
17 big black bin liners full of leaves, loads of fallen branches i put up on the sides of the bank, lost count after 40 carrier bags,3 car tyres,a car battery and loads of other shit.got completely covered in shit, but i felt proud that i did it.
had another word with the park ran@ers(sorry i cant say or print that word)regarding them cleaning out their side of the brook(the side you cant fish).they just push all the debris through the grills that collect the rubbish into my side, and it just gathers and stays there, wich is a problem as theres no rain and any obstruction mean the fish get stranded.anyway they said theyll have a word with the river maintenance team, and hopefully put a stop to this dumping on to my side of the brook.
the brook looks excellent and in full winter voice, and the wildlife are thriveing, especially that big one with my name on it.
