Find out about the ConnectRight campaign

Is your home connected right?

You may not know that the dirty water from your washing machine, dishwasher, sink and even toilet could be going straight into nearby streams and rivers.

By fixing the problem you will protect your environment, prevent health risks, reduce flooding and avoid penalty charges.

Follow the steps on the ConnectRight website to make sure your home plumbing is connected right and learn what to do if you find a problem.

Did you know? If you live in a 1960s or 70s house the chance that your dirty water is going into a stream is much greater

Misconnections can have a dramatic impact on rivers and the use of rivers. They can cause pollution, visual and odour problems and even a health risk due to the levels of untreated sewage.

As well as causing damage to the environment and human health, this is a problem for water companies who have to meet strict standards for water quality and the environmental regulators who enforces those standards

thames water put thousands of mis-connections right every year, and it costs us a fortune
its about time we had new legislation, that make new developments have to ask thames water if there is spare capacity within the sewage system and all connections are detailed so that those who connect wrongly can be made to pay

dont hold your breath folks

Let's face it, to most ordinary folk this just appears crazy, but, it is still allowed presumably?

Defra has a lot to answer for, and quite often I'm left wondering if they'll ever "walk the walk", instead of just boring people to death with empty words and intentions.

It is absolutely scandalous, that the most vital resource the planet has, is allowed to be compromised with such impunity? The list is a very long one...

Still, we can all play a small part in making things better as individuals, think water, think precious...
