| Up for that James. At a guess, we'd be able to get down on the beach about 8.30-9ish, so a nice start time. My only proviso will be if it's rained hard a couple of days before and the river will be full of sewage I'll give it a miss Hopefully that won't happen as a fat Thames flounder would be nice | |

| Strand on the Green is between Kew road bridge and Kew railway bridge, i,m not to sure about the best place to park, but i think the easiest access point is by the railway bridge, if i,m wrong, Steve H will no more about that area. cheers james | |

You're not wrong James. Although you can park on Strand-on-the-Green up by the road bridge, it's limited. Best parking is near the railway bridge in Grove Park Rd - nice safe road and free. Fishing up by the road bridge end is also not so nice due to the gooey, clingy mud washed up on the bend there - see pic for example. If we fish down the rail bridge end, the beach is nicer underfoot, more gravelly. Best spot is couple hundred yards further on but you get an idea of the difference underfoot. There's a really good spot less than a minute's walk from the parking in Grove Park Road - going downstream. We'd be well out of the way of all the joggers, pubgoers, walkers etc. For those who want to trot a float, close in it's nearly a metre deeper down that end and out in the middle is also a bit deeper. It's only a suggestion and nothing to stop anyone fishing where they like but having fished both ends of the stretch, I think most would prefer the spot downstream of the railway bridge. | |

| Found this deep in the album... this is pretty much where I'm thinking of. The beach you can see across the water is where we'd be fishing from if you go with my suggestion. Mostly stones and gravel. Parking is immediately behind the slip you see, on Grove Park Rd. The best spot to fish is another 50-100 yards to the right of the pic as we look at it, which is downstream. We'd basically be away from the towpath and protected from view by peoples' houses, with nothing to trouble us other than the seagulls. Fancy it James? PS - For anyone who doesn't know Kew, when the EA net this stretch every year, they pretty much turn up the same species and ratios as Richmond - it's still fresh water. | |

What about the Bass, do we stand any chance of biggun?

| A lifetime best Thames flounder is a very real possibility. They're mainly a winter fish and there was a big one caught from Kew Bridge area that would grace any sea fishing forum. Hopefully the big, fit full tidal bream will show - a different animal from the slothful slimeballs on the non-tidal. | |
