Useful overlay of postcode boundaries on a map: http://www.free-postcode-maps.co.uk/
In case the ordering seems a bit wierd - they are listed in post-code order - so if you know where you are look down the postcode column and you should be able to find your nearest shop quite easily.

Dave/ Ed - that list of local tackle shops is so useful...any chance we can make it a sticky, put it on the main site or something to make it easy to come back to?

Updated this morning, many more shops now have a web site.
This directory also has a good list stretching further south and south-east: http://www.prioryfarmfishing.co.uk/tackle.html

I'm pretty certain it's gone west (metaphorically, not moved to Windsor) as I regularly drive past it - don't always crane my neck round to see their unit - and not once seen it open in well over a year.

I've removed Yorkshire Baits and Heathrow Angling Centre; The YB website shows "new for 2011" and the phone has been disconnected, the HAC website has gone and the phone disconnected.

I'm pretty certain it's gone west (metaphorically, not moved to Windsor) as I regularly drive past it - don't always crane my neck round to see their unit - and not once seen it open in well over a year.

It's now re-emerged as the Fishing Shack, open Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm for sale of tackle and bait (including maggots), according to information my wife found on a local information web site. I've seen the board outside, but not had a chance nor reason to visit it yet, but have found this Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/search/107823805911869/places-in/175333089178368/places/intersect/

Very handy for Thorpe Lee & Twynersh and not too bad for Runnymede-Staines-Chertsey reaches of the Thames if you don't fancy risking the trafic wardens outside Davies Tackle or want to avoid Staines Bridge (depending on your origin/destination).

Went in yesterday and sign up on the door. Closing down the 22nd August after 51 years. Another one bites the dust.

Not sure of the circumstances of that one but most of these old shops will fade away because they haven't evolved.

One local shop owner popular among the TAC members said he "doesn't believe in the internet"!

If he read last month's Ebay's UK Top 30 Seller report he'd see in with the electrical and phone accessory retailers were 4 tackle shops. So fishing is still massive business and no other hobby came even close in the report.

I guess the facts show we're still buying but we prefer not to buy from local tackle shops...

Noooooooooooo! It's my shop - I know it reduced to 1 unit last year - guess it is just not making any money. That is a real shame - the guys who run i are really good blokes.

Getting bait locally is going to become a big problem now.

I blame all this internet shopping. Crying or Very sad
HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE WE HAVE TO ORDER A PINT OF MAGGOTS ON LINE TO HAVE A COUPLE OF HOURS FISHING?
I still like to handle any tackle before buying it.
Well thats my rant over.
