| This was sent to me regarding poaching and i think it's relevant to everyone:
There's been a alarming rise in the number of poachers gill nets and lines found over the past few months across the country. Please be very vigilant when walking / fishing rivers or ponds. Look for taught rope or strong line entering the water from the bank, bottles floating in the water that don't move in the wind or flow of a river. Weir pools and deeper runs with easy road access seem to be the poachers first choice. If you find anything don't remove it as it's very important to report it to the EA on: 0800-807060 Please pass this message on to all your fishing friends.

| Cheers Rob.
Good description of what to look out for. The EA need evidence so if you do seen any of the above, report it straight. If you have a phone camera takes pics.

| These would be great laminated and put up along riverbanks, (where possible) lakes etc do you know if there's any plans to do this? If not maybe we could give it a go | |

| I agree that these have a place on the river banks. As well as living practically on the Thames, I work just up the road from the Jubilee river and would happily stick up the posters along both rivers especially the stretch running from Cookham to the Windsor Racecourse as it is a stretch that I and many others walk on a regular basis. If we can get the permission to put these up, It would be a great way to raise awareness of both the problems at hand as well as highlighting the work we as a club are doing to try and protect the "ol' Girl". Not only for the anglers that enjoy the river and her quarry (not to mention the Millions being pumped into the economy by our endless need for baits and tackle) but for the future well being of the riverbanks and surrounding areas as well. Let us take the proverbial "bull by the horns" and get the message across. After all, the river is not only for boaters and anglers but for everyone to enjoy.

| Great stuff. I am on nights this weekend and off Monday and Tuesday so will download, laminate and print some posters before taking a walk down the stretch. If anyone over this way is interested in giving me a hand or looking to put some up at your local stretches, please let me know and I will try and get some extra printed.

(Or maybe there is a place already but I'm too daft to spot it )

| Admin, could you tell me why, that when your username is spelt backwards it spells nimda? No real reason for my query, I was just hoping you have too much time on your hands and could supply an answer... I'll run and hide immediately! Richard | |
