Hi all,
Just had a message from Joe asking whether we will be taking up the
eel monitoring reins at Molesey again this year, of course we will!

The proposed annual training and pass clean-out date is Saturday 30th April
I should guess around 10am, or earlier if you want a coffee beforehand.

More details when I have confirmation

Keith - sounds like it was a good match - I signed you up for eel trapping anyway pirat

Except for the top section the pass was not too badly clogged this year, the spillway was quite slippery though so we cleaned that as well. As you can see the river level is correct (makes a change!) and lots of flow going down the pass, we restarted the syphons though just to be sure.

I have created a new lid for the trap and will pop down on Saturday. I haven't drilled holes for the padlocks yet, seemed like a job to do on site to me. Incidentally can anyone remember the codes for said locks?

A tale of woe from the eel trap; I popped into work and grabbed a drill and some bits to bore holes in the new eel trap lid, picked up Nicola and trundled off to Molesey. Parking was shocking so had a long walk with new lid and drill life jacket etc. The old lid has one padlock attached to it and the trap itself has one, but neither is fastened to the other, nobody knows the combo for the locks either. Tried all the usual suspects-1111,1234,1966, you know the sort of thing. So I'll drill the old locks off, then put a couple of new holes further along, pop the new locks on, which are in the life jacket box then home free. The drill didn't even turn, the battery was that flat. What a plonker. So the old lid is still on the trap, which only had a bullhead in it, no eels. Check your gear before coming out chaps. It felt like rocking up at the peg only to find the bait is still in the shed. Anyone else done that?

I think this sort of thing happens to everybody at some point.
My bad day happened on an RDAA match.
Drew my peg number and whilst driving to my section I got a puncture, changed wheel and continued to my
section.
Walked to peg number and thought I had left my casters in the car.
Walked back to car but had left casters at home.
Walked back to my peg,put on my waders which split(bugger)
Disturbed a red ants nest whilst fishing and got bitten all over.
NOT A GOOD DAY affraid
