Spotted this poking up on the A316 embankment in Richmond this afternoon, pretty sure its Japanese Knotweed or can anyone reassure me different?

I've logged it on plant tracker hopefully they will confirm its id.

And my guess is, it will continue to flourish, thanks to bureacratic buck-passing:

Dear Mr Randell

Thank you for your e-mail, I am aware of the JKW at that location, unfortunately the land therefore falls under TfL's remit and so I do not treat that stand. I will however log it with them again (I did so a number of years ago) just to remind them!!!

Thank you again

Best wishes

The trick to that stuff is eat it. Taste just like rhubarb but a bit less tart...seriously, it's very nice.

You're having a laugh, seriously is it edible?
OK but do make sure it hasn't had weedkiller applied first :face:

affraid

That's a very short sighted view for an 'Ecology and Planning Officer' to take, if it spreads onto his patch it'll surely be more difficult to treat.......
