FORCE clean-up in Donkey Wood ~ Sun 13th May 2018 Empty
PostSubject: FORCE clean-up in Donkey Wood ~ Sun 13th May 2018   FORCE clean-up in Donkey Wood ~ Sun 13th May 2018 EmptyThu Apr 19, 2018 12:29 am

Friends of the River Crane Environment (FORCE) visited the Donkey Wood and Brazil Mill Wood sites this morning and have decided to hold their next FORCE volunteer day there on Sunday 13th May (10.30am to 3.30pm).  The intention is to focus on litter clearance in the woods and the river and see how much of the two sites can be cleared over the course of the day.  They hope we may be able to join them.

Meet at the Baber Bridge entrance to Donkey Wood and set up a base camp by the gravel mounds upstream (next to Ed’s sampling site).  They have most of the gear needed – but extra people in wellies and waders plus any robust nets for removing litter from the river would be very welcome.

I have asked them to take care not to disturb too many bricks / rocks in the river though, bullhead have just now spawned.

Basically, if you're free that day, please go along and help out, 10:30am Sunday 13th May.
More details will appear on the FORCE website soon: https://www.force.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer-sundays/

Matthew and I went along, quite a good turn-out, much like the old TAC days. Approx. 3 tons of rubbish was removed.
