We'll be meeting at 9am on Saturday morning for our usual monthly riverfly & water sampling session, and doing a bit of a litter-pick / clean-up at the same time.

Park just over the bridge in the trading estate.
Hide-Away Cafe in Central Way afterwards for a cuppa and some wholesome nourishment.

Park and meet up by the green line
Litter pick along the red dotted lines.
Our sample sites are at the larger red blobs.

Good to meet Jeff & Trevor again the other week;
I didn't take any photos of the rubbish clean-up as I was helping Richard from Frog Environmental to re-set the DNR guaging station.

The job was made easier by first finding an abandoned fully-functional wheelie-bin in the woods, apparently it had come from Spelthorne district.  It was loaded to the brim with rubbish, some pulled out the river by grappling hook but mostly fly-tipped near the entrance to the park.  Hopefully the council will empty it but leave the bin behind so it can be used over again.

See you at the next sampling, same time on 16th December.

The bin is still where we left it.Is got another bag of rubbish in it but I suppose its better in the bin than the river. Riverfly & Clean-up Donkey Woods Saturday 18th Nov 2017 3885384717

Took a brief look Saturday, waters levels are better and water is cascading over the weir.

Observed 2 carp, the koi was noticeable and was not spooked at my presence!

Litter bin was still there, with a few more items! you cannot win Smile

Someone who lives nearby is going to get a nice Christmas summons from the council.  We found a bin bag with documents inside and a local address on, it has been reported, with photographs.
