It would seem that the law looks upon polutton in a different light to us anglers. The £100.000 + fine imposed on Thames water for polutting the River Wandle has been over turned and now stands at £50k Dosen't give us a lot of hope does it!!

Pretty shocking news really, mind it does not suprise me in the least. At the end of the day pollution is environmental crime, what happened to "Polluter pays". The same happened on the trent last year, minimal fines. The same occurs with poaching. I know of an incident up here, i won't go into detail but basically a river was poisoned in order to take Salmon. It wiped out all year classes of fish, inverts etc. Completely killed 1.5 km of river. The punishment - 400 quid fine.
Its up to us to fight these things, my motto is keep bangin the drum, they will hear it eventually.
