We've been allocated 3 spaces on a Riverfly training course on Saturday 22nd February.

Riverfly is all about kick sampling and recording bugs found in order to gauge the health of the river.
More about  the previous TAC Riverfly training here:

This course has been organised by the ZSL and funded externally, we're quite fortunate to get these 3 places.

If you are interested, live near the River Crane, can make it for the training (takes most of the day)
and commit to a sampling session about once every month or two (probably takes about 1 hour, on a weekend)
please post your interest below.

So far there's myself and Trevor Rowe committed, so we need one other and ideally a rerserve
just-in-case something crops up such that one of us can't make the training on Saturday.

Details of the day's training:

I’m delighted to say that the Crane Valley Partnership have kindly agreed to fund ZSL to develop and support the River Monitoring Initiative on the River Crane.
The first training for the project will be held on Saturday February 22nd at Crane Park Island, the London Wildlife Trust (LWT) Site in Twickenham.

You are receiving this because you are on our list of attendees or volunteers from your organisation have signed up to the scheme. The list of people attending is below. Places are limited so if you can’t make it please do let me know. Also, if you have other volunteers that are interested in the training, please send names and e-mail addresses as I plan to offer another training session as soon as possible.

The Timetable for the 22nd is:

10:30  Arrive at the shot tower. Tea and coffee will be available.
11:00 Welcome by ZSL (River Crane monitoring coordinator),LWT and the Riverfly tutors.
11:20 Presentation on the principles of the Riverfly monitoring method- Riverfly tutor.
11:50 To the river for a practical sampling demonstration and an Invertebrate identification session.

1-1.45 Lunch

1:45  work in pairs to conduct your own Riverfly survey of the river
3:00 working with ZSL/the wider River fly partnership – ZSL
3:30 Introduction to the River Crane Phosphorus project- FORCE
3:40 summing up, Q&A
4:00 finish.

The shot tower location is shown here: http://goo.gl/maps/pIZsO . Parking should be available for those that need it on Ellerman Avenue.

What to bring: Packed lunch, Waders if you have them and any River Invertebrate ID books.
For those without waders LWT have some but I’m not sure what sizes are available.

Bump on this, I know everyone is going to The Big One, but if you're not and you're local to the Crane, please give it a thought  Basketball
