went down to teddington loch island today to remove(uproot) the himalayan balsom that had claimed political asylum on these shores.pulled up hundreds of it,and now the island is 95% free of the horrible stuff.
also pulled out some other triffid like plants. thank god (NEPTUNE) that there were dock leaves around to rub on all the stings that i got.

Watch out for giant hog-weed wullie - don't know about Teddington but there's a fair bit of it around the mini-ha-ha, apparently it burns & blisters quite badly (google for images).

nice one willie, when we get the other 5% sorted, it'll be 2 years on the trot its balsam free

Just want echo re Hogweed.....dangerous stuff, really needs stem injection or spraying, its awful.
Don't pull out Knotweed either as it spreads very quickly and needs to be burnt on site.
Balsam can spread very quickly down a watercourse especially if picked whilst carrying seedheads, needs to be picked before the seeds/flowerheads appear to be really effective.

never mind the hogweed, keep those midgies up there.(teeth like hamsters)
