Bumping this back up in to view
http://www.anglingtrust.net/page.asp?section=649&sectionTitle=Invasive+Non-Native+Species
It's a bit light on the animal kingdom but otherwise a very good identification guide with a detailed .pdf to help identify invasive plants.

Which are the big ones we should be looking out for on the Lower Ed?

Would be good if we could put together a list of what has been seen/reported, and what hasn’t, so we know which to report if we encounter.

I’ve heard about the top mouth gudgeon, for instance, but have they been found in the Thames before?

Don't think the top mouth gudgeon has been found anywhere near here yet.
The main one is himalayan balsam, gets everywhere.
The Thames is full of mitten crabs and signal crayfish.
