Spot on.

I'd pencilled in a trip to Mortlake this weekend but fished elsewhere after reading your posts James.

Thanks for letting us know.

Had a call from the EA fisheries team this morning, thanks guys.

The deployment of the bubbler has been precautionary in reaction to the recent overflows, which is good news.

So far the expected rain in London has dissipated and not caused the expected flash floods, think our European neighbors may have got it big time.

To be expected..

Rower notification from Thames Water:  Hammersmith Pumping Station (PS)

Following the recent rainfall, Hammersmith PS has in the last hour discharged untreated storm sewage into the River Thames, due to lack of capacity in the existing sewer network.

We are working hard to develop the Thames Tunnel to address the unacceptable volume and frequency of these discharges.

The proposed tunnel would capture flows from the 34 most polluting 'combined sewer overflows' (CSOs) discharging to the river, including Hammersmith PS, and transfer the sewage to our works at Beckton in east London for treatment.

For more information view www.thamesconsultation.co.uk

Regards
Thames Water

I've had no emails from them since Tuesday 23rd August 4:38pm (Mogden) and 12:21pm (Hammersmith), maybe the person who sends them has gone on holiday.

Maybe this is Thames waters latest PR stunt, "no news is good news", or hopefully they are getting it in the neck from people other than fishermen, that their practices are unacceptable and are ruining the environment

you posting when the bubblers are out, is enabling us to compile a list of their activities
it'll be interesting to see if your data/reports match up to the official line

Just had a VM from the EA to say that both bubblers are out again today, thanks for the weekend update.

There is an area of sewage moving between Kew and Chelsea but DO levels holding up.

Will update as and when

The boats are run by Thames Water, but called out by the EA, so the EA has control when and where they go. No doubt TW have not sent an overflow notification and will find out why.

DO was around 15% Sunday lunchtime so borderline, June 6th was 10% so not good. Up to 20% early evening.

Thanks again to the EA for the updates

wot the hell is going on, why are the dissolved oxygen levels so low for such long periods, and who says 15% is borderline
this situation has been occuring for decades, surely factoring in the length of time this has been occuring would increase the borderline from 15%
its as obvious as a treble in your finger, that those involved in this debacle are unwilling to make it easy for us to view the whole picture

draw your own conclusions folks, but lets hope if the winds of change arrive, they blow the offenders of course

Bubbler back on the river at 1.30am this morning.
I,m not the type of person who sits up all night looking at the river, but when that thing parks itself right outside your house, you cant help but wake up, if you,ve not seen it at night, imagine one of those disco boats with the music replaced by an intermittent hissing noise and you,ll get the picture.
Still no discharge notification from "Thames Water", if the person responsible for the said notification has gone on holiday, you would have thought they would have someone else in place to "Cover them?, or should that read "Cover up?.

Major questions to be asked without doubt, and we are on the case. A drop to 15% is borderline as you said, having to reoxygenate the river all weekend, no notifications. Hydrogen peroxide is supposed to be put in at the same time as any overflow at Mogden, did that happen.

If something has gone wrong, we will find out.

TW answered the question posed about last weekend. If you have received this can you reply as noted. Cheers

I would like to apologise for the recent failure to notify you of storm sewage discharges into the River Thames.

Very heavy rainfall meant that we needed to discharge from Hammersmith Pumping Station at 11am and Mogden Sewage Treatment Works at 12.21pm on 25 August. There were further discharges from Hammersmith at 6.25pm on 26 August, and from Mogden at 4.14pm on 27 August.

I am sorry that the notification process did not operate correctly. We are now reviewing the process as a priority to ensure it works properly in the future. While rowers did not receive the message, the Environment Agency were correctly notified that the discharges were taking place.

I would be grateful if you could confirm you have received this message, as this will help us ensure that notifications are reaching all those people who have signed up to receive them.

Yours sincerely

Mr Chris Featherstone
Head of Control

I find it hard to believe there was no discharge on the weekend dated 20/21 august, (according to list put up).
The Bubbler was out at Hammersmith for six hours on both nights and it was pouring down for most of that weekend.
1.6 million tonnes of sewage dumped in the river and 1.6 million tonnes still lining the river banks.
Review their procedures! they ought start telling people the truth.
