Thames Tunnel finally gets the go-ahead Empty

Saw from Ed earlier about the Thames Tunnel getting the official go ahead with finance in place  cheers

Just want to say massively well done to you all on here who contributed their voice in whatever way.  Dave and Ed have done shed loads behind the scenes, Rich bless him got stuck into all the lengthy paperwork that no-one else wanted to do.  Keith Arthur was a massive support for the club, going up to Westminster for a meeting and mentioning it often on Sky and in the AT.

The TAC was started 5 years ago in disgust at a recent big fish kill due to raw sewage into the river - another happened when we were in full swing.  Anglers were only a small part of the movement but the TV coverage this club got of the dead fish and Dave's interview helped shame people into resisting a little bit less.

The TAC didn't get the tunnel through...but it sure did help!

15 years from now the tidal will be one of the country's best roach fisheries - mark my words!  Wink

Well done Dave, Ed and all Thames Tunnel finally gets the go-ahead 3927873466

Well said Steve. The go-ahead is a massively important step forward to protect the tidal in the future and hugely significant for the TAC.
Let's hope the tunnel completion isn't delayed, as 2023 is long enough to wait as it is, we still have another 8 years of sewage dumping to endure.

Well done to everyone who got stuck in and founded the TAC, I wasn't even an angler then, just got involved somehow a bit later Thames Tunnel finally gets the go-ahead 3927873466

I had a text from Pete Gray at the EA earlier this afternoon:-
Pete Gray wrote:
Hi Ed, there is quite a sag in the tideway currently around hammersmith heading down to Blackfriars by about 17:00.
The DO is low and we have Vitality (the bubbler boat) out responding to the situation.
I'm on call for fisheries and we have members of staff out looking for signs of fish mortalities, please let me know if you hear anything or need more info, Pete Gray

Unfortunately the tunnel isn't built yet and these problems will continue until it is.

Big thankyou to all the TAC people above.

Don't underestimate the impact made.

Now it is time to drive forward the principles this community was founded on.
