| On Wednesday morning 17th June there's a photo call at the House of Commons at 11am in support of the Climate Change coalition. More anglers are needed to show our support. I know the time is pretty dreadful for anyone even if you are working up in town. I'm going to try and make it along though - if you can join us please let me know ASAP. If you can bring a rod and wear a fishing jacket, so much the better, but not essential.
Martin Salter said that afterwards we can have a natter in the House of Commons cafe and he'll buy a cup of tea for anyone who can make it.
Thanks, Ed.
from Martin Salter: The Angling Trust has joined the Climate Coalition to show our support for action to tackle climate change, which we see as a genuine threat to fish and fishing in the future. Higher temperatures mean less oxygen for fish in the water; more intense and sporadic rainfall will make pollution, floods and droughts worse; and diseases like KHV will flourish. You can read Mark Lloyd’s blog on the subject HERE on why this issue should matter to everyone who cares about our rivers and the aquatic environment.
We will be participating in the huge Speak Up rally outside Parliament on Wednesday 17th June and the organisers have asked if we would organise a special photocall with anglers wearing fishing jackets and carrying our rods. As our National Campaign Coordinator I will be there with our South East Chairman Paul Eslinger. If we can get enough anglers to commit to attending we will invite MPs from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Angling to join us for a photocall at 11am. We are expecting to attract national press interest.
Please let us know if you can spare me an hour or so on June 17th to make sure the voice of angling is heard in the corridors of power on this important issue.

| James is coming too, and I should try to make it, so thanks chaps - the details are: Meet at the House of Commons, St.Stephens entrance, 10:55 sharp It is marked (9) on this map: http://www.parliament.uk/documents/facilities/maps/colmap.pdfMartin Salter should be there to meet us (& more important, to buy the tea) It might be good if you can look a bit more like an angler than a loony (just for the photo Keith, you can change back after!) If you wear something like a fishing jacket (might be a bit hot though), a TAC hat, and/or bring a rod that will be even better. (small telescopic rod might be best for train transportation, stick a reel on it & you're done. See if Martin will let you fish the full tidal from the HoC terrace afterwards) | |

| No, wear a TAC T-shirt under that waistcoat, and loose the loony hat, a TAC hat instead would be good. You're probably going to be in an Angling Trust press release so they'll want it a bit serious. | |

| He's right, no sudden movements! Don't hold the rod under your arm like a shotgun, and don't stuff the waistcoat full so it looks like a suicide vest. With your stomach mind, it would look like that even when completely empty ! | |

| Cheers Ed, good cause to be involved in and I think the Angling Trust guys appreciated us coming along. Keeps the TAC nicely at the forefront of peoples' minds I reckon.
Good that we were the only group there to get MPs to turn up as well. It is clear Martin Salter is still very well plugged in to the Westminster Village, bodes well for getting Anglers' voices heard during this Parliament.
Pity the photoshoot was such carnage, tricky to get a load of random activists into some kind of order though, a bit like like herding cats. | |

| A Labour and Tory MP there Willie, but no SNP! Do the Scots not care about angling and climate change? Or are they secretly hoping it improves the weather up there *shock* | |

| ....Police said, under no circumstances should the group be approached by members of the public. Any sightings should be reported to the Department of Bad Attire, so that the suspects can be apprehended and retrained... | |
