Chaps

After a years absence due to the floods we are going to do a clear out of the spawning channel at Penton Hook.

Had a walk of it last week and whilst its not as bad as previous years, but the middle section is like a jungle so no light is getting in and needs sorting out.

Post up if you can make it, waders will be provided, tools as we have them plus Stu from the EA is bringing stuff down, cakes are very welcome as ever Smile

If you want to fish afterwards please feel free, this is agreed with Stu.

a bit off subect, aculy, a lot off subject, this is an "EMERGENCY", I need a lot of help, I'm in bits, every day I cry me eyes out, the pain I am in, you name it, i have tried it, its not working,

As we are meeting up this weekend, I would like some members of TAC to help me out, just one person will do, just to put a smile back on me face, I cannot take it any more

the problem is this

in the last 2yrs since I got knocked off me beloved push bike (that was a sad day) and got a replacement, this replacement push bike is just not same, it the "SADDLE", I have gone though 2 seats and 6 springs, and God, does it hurt, then springs, curd me piles, but still painful, so if any members turning up this weekend has an old push bike just sitting around doing nothing and has a saddle that can mould to my rear end, going cheap, (£5), unemployed, you will make my year, and put a big smile on me face Very Happy

There are a load of bikes which have been "abandoned" in the bike racks near here
for a couple of months and a couple of weeks ago finally had removal notices put on
them by the council. I will have a look see what parts can be easily had off them
just before the removal date. (should be OK If I put on a high-viz vest and do it in
broad daylight?)

Have you considered making a back rest for your trusty steed like the mods did for there
scooters in the 60's. Question

Can I ask as ever, if you have secateurs, maybe shears to bring them along as the nature if we will be clearing the over-hangs in the channel. Also rakes will be very useful, gloves we should have but again if you can bring them

is any one fishing, as there might be a family of 4 turning up, with 2 children around 7yrs, who would like to fish, I am turning up, but cannot stay long as out with me son, making the most of it

Sincere and massive Thank You to the guys who turned up today and did a cracking job: Andy Banham (happy birthday again), Ed and Matthew, Rob Hay, Charlie Mills, Trevor Rowe, Keith Crab (special thanks), Patrick Barker and of course Stu K from the EA.

Between us managed to clear a way down the spawning channel which was pretty overgrown after not being done last year, due to the floods. Main objective is to increase the flow and increase the light getting in so to encourage more marginal plants, and all was achieved, again thank you. many thanks for the bike saddles, they dont make bikes like they used to, in 18 months I have gone though 2 new saddles and 6 springs, and to cape it all off, 50yds from me home the rear mud guard fell off and i nearnly went over the handal bars, as I had to leave early and not in last pic, i thourght I wood be a bit chicky and insert me self Evil or Very Mad
