| Checked the trap yesterday and will again Wednesday and meeting someone there, can do Saturday though.
With Joe we had a look look at it and the main issue we believe is the flow, the syphon put in is probably not sending enough water down whne the lower the level for the work on the weir. Hope that a new or 2nd syphon will go in this week.
Good news is 2 Elvers were trapped, very different year though
Will post after Wednesdays check

| went down the lock fishing and checked the eels with nicolas help.water was belting over the spillway so flip flops were not ideal footwear nicola. there were two eels one 75 mm and the other 85 mm. there was also one crab squished. plus a lady stepped from her boat straight into the lock. warren got a ladder and she climbed out but could have been nasty as she went between boat and lock wall and had no life jacket. must remember its a dangerous place. | |

| I've safely survived the ordeal of the weir slime and am happy to report 3 eels this morning. Two at 80mm and 1 at 85mm. There were also 3 crabs and one dead crab, or was that 4 dead crabs? There was also a very fat dendrobena worm. | |

Definitely not a Bullhead, probably a Stone Loach, which are quite rare these days. Possibly (but not very likely) a Spined Loach, which are much rarer and on the endangered list. Both are a good indicator of high water quality, so are very welcome. Lot's of pics and information on Google.... | |

| dave and i checked the trap today; no wrigglers and two squishers. bit disappointed really. seems so very patchy and a very wide range of sizes when they do come along. dont remember last year being that way. | |
