| Parking restriction hinder the free access to the historically free fishing on the Lower Thames so all who fish the Thames at Walton should be aware of this proposal to introduce parking restrictions at Cowey Sale. Elmbridge Borough Council proposes to introduce a 60p per hour charge, 10:00hrs to 16:00hrs Monday to Sunday. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the order and proposals are available for inspection at the Main Reception, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD or see http://www.elmbridge.gov.uk/documents/detail.htm?pk_document=24668All objections and other representations relating to the order and proposals must be made before 1 February 2014, in writing and sent to Elmbridge Parking Services, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD. Objections must specify the grounds on which they are made. | |

I have it in writing that it would remain free, and that was from the guy leading the bridge project.
Big effort coming up on this one folks,

| From Feb 2011... Hello Dave,
Sorry for missing out the 'Pay & Display' in my last email. The car park is owned and managed by Elmbridge Borough Council, so I asked them the question about whether there are any plans to charge for use of the car park. The answer I got from them was a firm no, so your members can rest easy.
Regards,Peeved as covered this off, the contact it came from I just got a bounced email,

| Here we go again, cash strapped councils using motorist as cash cows yet again. The problem is this does not only affect anglers but all river users.I take it these are the car parks where Chinos is.He has had to put up put up with all the disruption with the bridge building and now this.Wham! | |

| Yes, these charges will hit the trouser shop very hard It really is about time that councils realised that motorists/families/shoppers will avoid areas that charge, especially if its a high rate. | |

| Ditton Reach car park (not sure where that is exactly) is also having a 3 hour limit put on boat trailers, meaning anglers launching a boat would only have a 3 hr session. Considering launching facilities are poor in the borough anyway, that's atrocious.
I don't generally sign many petitions/ objections but definitely going to add my name to anything remotely related to an objection on this one.
To back up Dave's comment earlier, a few of us have seen the email stating they wouldn't charge for parking by Walton Bridge. Complete U-turn.

| Its just a consultation that needs to be objected to, I am putting together what you all need. It is by post so needs effort, but needs to be stopped, scandalous | |

| That's the problem with consultations ,they have a legal obligation to hold them.Boris just posted a consultation to raise the daily congestion charge from £10 to £11.50 .Will these changes go ahead,YES,Good luck to any opposition of these obnoxious proposels. | |

| We will all be relieved that Cowey sale parking will remain free. All Walton Conservative Cllrs including myself opposed controls there and these proposals are now recommended for refusal in the Council's Cabinet meeting next week. | |

| Excellent result,I would like to think our objections made a difference, but in the end common sense prevailed and visitors and residents will continue to enjoy this historic riverside . | |

| Well done all those who responded to consultation. One senior EBC officer remarked "surprised anglers formed such a large proportion of respondents". We are getting organised and thanks to TAC we can be vigilant to threats to our sport and have a strong voice. | |

| As I understand the minutes as read included objections from Surrey Police who objected on safety grounds, never the less it was a great response from the public and we should be proud of that. | |
