Have just heard on the grape vine, that a bridge on the Thames has been badly damaged, and has to be re-placed, all I know is that it is a bridge in Surrey(ish), any one got idears

No idea mate, not heard of any closures so could be a footbridge, such at the one at Teddington, Chinese bridge at Walton?

Sonning bridge has been shut due to floods and Pangbourne  toll bridge is being taken down at the moment to be replaced maybe one of these and the rumour mill???
The Pangbourne/Whitchurch one is running overdue by weeks at the moment no doubt due to floods so mayber that is it

Talk on boating forum of Chertsey bridge reopening this morning then closing straight away due to possible structural damage namely a crack....anyone know anymore??

A big cruiser got wedged under it a week or so ago, so that could have caused the damage.
However the news article said it was checked by a structural engineer and given the all-clear, so can't see how it has become damaged since then, unless the engineer didn't do a very good job or damage only took hold afterwards, or possibly flood water damage has occurred since.
