| In case you were thinking of driving anywhere on the weekend of Saturday 3rd / Sunday 4th August, probably best not to bother. Cycle race across Surrey... - Quote :
- I am writing to give you advance notice that on Sunday 4 August, as part of a weekend of
Prudential RideLondon cycling events, certain east, central and southwest London and Surrey roads will be closed to traffic.
The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 'Classic' and '100' events start at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, finishing at The Mall, via the City of London, Fulham, Chiswick, Sheen, Kingston, Hampton Court, Weybridge, east of Woking, Leith Hill, Dorking, Box Hill, Leatherhead, Cobham, Esher, Wimbledon and Putney.
There will be road closures and restrictions from early morning until late evening and no crossing points for vehicles. Road users are advised to plan journeys well in advance on the day.
Many bus routes will be on diversion and stations along the route may get busy at certain times; full details will be available nearer the time on the TfL website and at affected bus stops.
For more information, including a detailed map of the Sunday event routes, please click here: http://info.tfl.gov.uk/re?l=9xmgcbI2uz21huI0

| Stuck on the M25 around 7pm coming back from near Warwick and luckily they were just opening the local roads so managed to cut across. Not sure I agree they can shut everywhere down like that. | |

| In the Independant headlining today was 'a great day for cyclist in london' which should have read underneath 'a black day for motorist'.We had the olympics last year closing down Central London for three weeks and the triathlon a few weeks ago ,the London Marathon in spring. It is not right closing down a mayor commerce route in what is the greatest city in the world. And if the general public think they do not pay for these closures they are badly mistaken.Every time you call out a gas fitter ,electric ,or any other tradesmen the parking charges, congestion chares ,parking fees ,eccess time getting to a job,all this is taken into consideration when you get your bill. The saying is time is money. So next Boris enlist our help in getting hIm re-elected He will be told in no uncertain Terms NO BORIS ,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. And as a afterthought I have personally witnessed several accidents involving cyclist where two lanes have been taken down to one by the introduction of a green cycle lane, and the cyclist have been crushed under the wheels of a lorry. In Holland the cycle lanes are dead flat and I have been nearly hit by these bikes gouing 40 plus miles per hour.if you drive down the highway in narrow street wapping a one way street the bikes hurtle towards you the wrong way ,then you get them shaking coffee beans at you! | |
