Blimey - really didn't look like there were any in there on Saturday.

Also - any explanation about the missing key on Saturday, or at least why neither of the lock keppers could find it then? Presumably it should be kept in the key cabinet.

Not sure mate, I think they have not looked that well. What I do is go into the office and get the key. Next time happy to meet down there Smile

I have heard from Joe and he may check Weds, if not I will do it Thursday morning, then Darryl from fisheries is down there Friday anyway and will take a look (he is the EA lead for the Eel program).

Colin I think can do Sunday ?

I will ask Steve the lock keeper to have a look for the keys, I was down there yesterday evening and the water is up over the concrete by a foot, not safe to check at the moment

Steve (lock keeper) told me that the fisheries guy checked the eel trap yesterday and there where 21 eels in it.
Can anyone confirm.

Went to Molesey Lock to check eel trap, 26 mitten crabs ranging different sizes, the picture is of the biggest one.

2 eels, one 17cm and one 16cm. Michael found the smaller one trapped where the new bit of mesh has been put on the small funnel, but he managed to get it out.

Caught three little ones last night on the Desi :-(

Never seen such small eels on a hook before, one was only about 9"

A hot week chaps, I am going down today and if anyone is about, please check it, more the merrier.

We should be right in peak time and have to consider the welfare. I think the lock is open until 7 in the summer but avoid the 27th as the Olympic flame is coming through Cool

Three in the trap today, surprising low as not checked since Thursday.
