| Another chance to do worthwhile work on our rivers that directly benefits the fish. We'll be enhancing the Hogsmill around the Worcester park area. Clearing the river to enhance flow and clearing overhanging vegetation to allow light in so that aquatic plant and invertebrate life (fish food) flourishes.
Many of the fish stocked in the Lower Thames area go into the Hogsmill so important the Hogmill habitat is optimised.
Please put your names down if you can make it. No time fixed yet but the aim will be to tear thru the work so should only take up a portion of your day. If you can spare 2-3 hours it would be very much appreciated.

| That's right Andy, Worcester Park is near Cheam.
Will by all means post up a map when exact place has been decided, with an X marking the meeting point.

| Are there fish up as far as Worcester Park, I used to go down Malden Manor as a kid for the stickle backs but never saw anything else, I lived that way all my life and never seen any other fish, I know of fish from behind the old swimming baths at kingston but never any further up.

Definitely Kev. When they get restocked in the Hogsmill - a few hundred chub, dace and roach a year - they go in much further up at Ewell. Dave and I tipped a load in last year with the EA in King George V Rec. And as for Malden Manor, I think you'd be very surprised then what's caught from there nowadays

| Its tucked away Andy, When you leave the A3 and travel about 3/4 mile along Malden Road theres a sharp bend with Traffic lights just before the first Railway Bridge, If you turned right there or the next turn after the Bridge you would be in the right Direction. Its even hard to see on google earth, If you find Surbiton Raceway (The go kart track) it runs along parallel to this.
Steve - Tell me then whats in there now, cant believe theres fish in there with catching and Im sitting on top of them.

| There are fish right through the tribs. whether they are catchable size will differ. The important thing about them is they are the veins of the main river. The tributaries are a key recruitment ground as the fry and smaller fish end up in the Thames. Its all about a bigger picture as such and a wider ecosystem This is habitat work and a clean up, the tribs are used as a rubbish dump so will be a in river and bankside clean as well. This was one of our earlier events and look how much got pulled out in a few hours http://rivertac.org/2011/04/tac-volunteers-out-with-the-environment-agency/If anyone sees and area of river we should be clearing, let us know. Ian C already mentioned a stretch of the Colne where he has seen an array of car batteries etc. So post it up, we can check with the EA that we are not disturbing any species and get a clean up arranged, all good chaps | |

We're waiting on the EA to confirm place and time James but will most likely be the Worcester Park Rd stretch on the Tolworth/Worcester park borders, near the Hogsmill pub. If you're coming along James, I'll pick you up from the station of your choice if you like? Can arrange nearer the time...

| Just had confirmation - it's the Worcester Park Road stretch on the borders of Tolworth and Worcester Park. We'll meet outside the Hogsmill pub. Saturday 18th Feb 9am - noon with a half time tea break. Loads of work to do, we'll bosh it out then the day is ours. I've bolded the important bits as some silly sausage turned up an hour early last time and wasn't sure he was in the right place (Rob Hay you know who you are mate ) The Fisheries team has asked if we can come up with 10 volunteers. We've got 620+ on this forum, up to 80 visiting each day. Please can some of you help us out? Can those who expressed initial interest also confirm you're still on for it, thanks? If you haven't done river work parties, you feel brilliant about what you've done afterwards. You also get more angling intel than you know what to do with. Please step up if you can fellas | |

| Kevin, James thank you gents. We need more help guys - the TAC needs you. This Saturday, River Hogsmill 9am-12 noon with a half time cuppa break. I've always got Jaffa cakes in the car....yes...we'll have tea and Jaffas If you can spare 3 hours this Saturday morning improving this tributary, Isaak will smile kindly down upon you and the Old Father will recognise your sacrifice. There's definitely something in it! So many lads who've attended work parties/litter picks have gone on to catch a dream fish shortly after. Please volunteer if you can | |

| Nice one Andy, top man, that's 6 of us so far.
Could do with a few more volunteers if possible as a big stretch of river to work on so don't be shy folks...
