PostSubject: Re: ENGINE RIVER   ENGINE RIVER EmptyFri Nov 18, 2011 2:27 pm

went down to the river to see how it is getting on, talked to Bev the landowner, the TW are pumping in water at top end and sucking it out just before it reaches the thames, there is a barrior to stop most of it getting into the thames

lot and lots of dead baby fish, max 500 so far, around the 2/3" mark, some bigger fish, 1 small pike, no ells as off yet,, a lot of the dead fish are hidden in the reeds so difficalt to find, on talking to people, no names, they might be there for a good week or so, clean water coming from thames at sheeperton lock, by tanker, contaminated water going of to be cleaned somwere, a lot of the trees are going to be pulled out so that they can get rid of all the surface green algae, so this will open it up to the fish, when it is cleaned up, oxigane levals is around 70/75%, last week it was just below 10% in places,

water going into thames, a lot better then it was

PostSubject: Re: ENGINE RIVER   ENGINE RIVER EmptyMon Nov 21, 2011 8:01 pm

On speaking to Elmbridge council today, ref the "LETTER", I spock to some one ref this river and wot had happened, they "Elmbridge council", said they know about it and said that it was the small river that runs from broad water into the maininer that is the other side of walton bridge, I then had to correct them, and tell them that was the wrong river that has been polluted, and in my best "CRAZY CRAB", POLITICAL VOICE, gave them the correct grid reffence, than ask very nicely, to repeat wot i have said, I did say "SIR", before and after my question, its nice to be polite to these people who think they know every think, then said thank you "SIR" for your time, you will be hearing from me again, good bye

water bord, company, they are sorting it all out, tree cutters are ther cuttung trees down and falling in, Laughing
and they should restock it, 10yrs ago (ish) they got permisson to stock it with fish and widen it, there is a gate at the end were it joins the thames to stop the big fish from going walkies, the river is owned by two people, Bev has top end and Trever, I think, dont quot me, owns the end that goes into the river thames, and things are looking good for us to fish it when it is cleaned up, so I recon that if we play our cards right we could get full fishing rights, it will mean helping out to maintain it, wot do members of TAC think

ps

I might be fishing broad water , weather permitting

Aaaaaggghhh Wink

Keith,

Thanks for posting the pictures - this is another shocker.
I just want to be clear - are you saying Thames Water did this? If so how did it actually happen (sorry if this was posted earlier and I missed it).
Those pics are shocking, part of reason for my reply is to bump this to the top for greater awareness.

Robin.

PostSubject: Re: ENGINE RIVER   ENGINE RIVER EmptyThu Nov 24, 2011 9:49 pm

Took a bit of digging, but I've found the first mention of the incident in "River Guardians" page 15 Nov 9th 17:38 by David Harvey:
https://t-a-c.forumotion.com/t1060p210-river-guardians-reports#14219

Yes this incident seems to have gone from what was thought to be a minor event initially to a major wipeout pale

What is it, over 18 months later? Prosecuted, convicted, guilty, good.
I will merge this on to the original topic, if that's OK.
