following tales of swan and fish eating, rubbish leaving and general environment trashing, it has been suggested that it would be worthwhile visiting the areas where this occurs, at the times that the perpetrators are most likely to be there
the suggestion being to educate those that are ruining our environment

if you would like to be part of this team, as always, post your interest on 'ere folks

Jim sorry to be a dissenting voice but is this not a job for the police or the PCSO patrols? Swans are property of the queen so the police will get involved, even if they wouldn't for fish.

The fishing side is down to EA enforcement and their stab proof vests. The camping is down to the council and their dog patrol team.

The trips would be to educate them but it could easy turn nasty. One glimpse of a double figure barbel flapping about in a Lidl carrier bag and it'd be carnage. EEs getting nutted left right and centre.

Maybe intel supply would be better, pre-arranged with the appropriate agency so we know the intel gets acted on?

Not being negative mate just would hate our good rep - that you've worked your balls off for - to get ruined by a mass bankside brawl/stabbing...and that could happen.

Would it be possible for EA bailiff to join us?

The problems were reported to the EA this week and understand there should be patrols, possibly even the enforcement boat will be going round.

The council have a local enforcement team as well who do patrol but have a massive area to cover.

its the same old problems, in the same old areas, with the same old solutions resulting in more of the same

thanks to andrzej, we now have the opportunity to communicate with some of the offenders, in their native language
the authorities aint got that

I'll be out this evening with andrzej, and like hundreds of times before, I'll speak to 'em, the only difference this time is I'll know what they say

next weekend, if andrzej is about, we'll get a peaceful posse together and do a non confrontational evening litter pick

we should all be seriously concerned, that every season this crops up again
the authorities are aware of where this occurs, where are the mass of signs,
they know when this occurs, out of normal working hours,
they know the solution, a heavy penalty/big fine to deter others

just like many other things river related, the authorities charged with looking after them, aint got the resources, so fail miserably, we gotta help them to look after our river
last weekend on the litter pick we were told english anglers had been intimidated into packing up, its one step away from a no go area, commonly known as a scales and feathers swim

opinions as always chaps, and if you wanna be part of the peaceful posse next weekend, post it on 'ere, and hows about having steve as sheriff

michael, andrzej and myself ambled around desbrough island yesterday evening

there was no shortage of fisher people and anglers, the non-nationals we spoke to weren't causing any problems, but boy was there some litter/crap scattered around [ we only did a litter pick there last sunday]

we spoke to everybody, gave out some club flyers and met some club members

a mahoosive thanks to andrzej for travelling from north london and acting as interpretor, and michael for giving up his saturday evening

following the discovery of a 30 inch tree stump covered in bream scales last monday, and the same non english speaking fisher people back in the area last night, I shall be on the case this morning when I walk the dog

nice one chris, I know its hard finding the time m8

got down to teddington lock island at 8.15 this morning, only one offender half asleep/hungover sat in his chair, his buddies were elsewhere
anyways put it on him big time, told him I was looking for fish thieves, then stomped around and filled one bin bag with litter

Spoke to a couple of Poles on Monday. They assured me that the fish thieves were Lithuanian......funny that, speak to Lithuanians and they'll say its the Serbs, speak to Serbs and they'll say its Croats etc. etc. No resolution, even an EU one. :o
