| spot on buddy, as far as I know its the only one
we have explored the possibility of having our own on a couple of the locks, as well as daily temperature and clarity readings responses from the EA have been very positive, particularly the daily temp and clarity readings, whereas the live cameras are more complicated
to cut to the chase, if we had the money to pay for it, it'd happen
so if anyone has the skills and where with all to get cctv cameras installed, let us know

| Good cams Any one with the knowledge to set a TAC underwater Thames cam up? There's always a few weeks in the summer where it's gin clear and we'd be able to see properly... | |

| Here's a nutter who built a tethered underwater submarine using waste pipe and bilge pumps. http://rollette.com/rovrev2/ Simplify the design without the pumps & tow it behind HMS Mushroom Trouble is, need to take a laptop with you to see the pics. If we made a fixed one & put it in at Teddington weir say, where would we wire it in - do the lock keepers have internet access? Reality is, blink and it's going to get expensive, we need to convince the EA to do it for us, get more value for that license fee. | |

How about using a mobile phone placed on the bank and wrapped in a waterproof bag as a GPRS or 3G modem uploading automatically to a site? No need for a laptop then and very easily stashed out of sight... Any computer students fancy a project?

| I recently bought a cctv underwater cam, plus recorder, battery life is four hours but am sure it can be rigged to a power supply, comes with a hard case and monitor, 20m cable, very robust and good quality. It was bought from Maplins for around 200 quid. Don't know if thats any use.
Also i have also bought some temperature loggers...Gemini aquatic temperature loggers, around 100 quid each, also requires a base pad for uploads. Will record temperature every minute if required, once data is uploaded it puts it into a graph or table from which all the averages hourly, daily, weekly, monthly etc can be found. I have 6 of these all in place in streams all over my area. Can be used in the sea/estuary too.
