Date in the dairy for our annual Penton Hook clean up of the spawning channel plus this year some work around the swims.

More details to follow.

Last year of course was marked by some excellent cakes.... Kevin?

Last year the EA arranged for us to be able to park in the spots by the lock which was a right result, would be good if they arranged that again.

Spoke to Stuart today and yes parking at the lock, no problem, cakes permitting Razz

Plenty to do down there both in and out of the water so going to be a good event.

I take it that with the weather the way it is, this Saturday is going to be cancelled or wait untill Friday night or Saturday morning to see how things go

I have spoken to Stu this afternoon and we may have to pull it.

A number of issues may cause that but talking to him again tomorrow lunchtime.

In brief, high water levels - looking like we could be going as high as a few weeks back and at that stage a chunk of the island flooded. One job was to do work on the swims, the main parts are underwater, the rubbish that had collected is either underwater or dangerous to go near. Level in the actual channel is likely to be backing up from the main flow, so getting deep. Lastly if we get the expected highs, Stu maybe called onot emergency flood duty, he mentioned is team are putting up temporary barriers in Guildford tonight for the Wey.

Gutted to be honest mate, its a social as much as anything. Def going to get another date up.

Shame its been cancelled as it does need doing every year. Last year was good, hope all the plants have not been washed away. A later date would be good keeping in mind dace are early spawners.
