| Need to think about another clean-up on this Mini-Ha-Ha soon, a shopping trolley was recently added where Willy caught the Chub:- It's really silting up, had a conversation with a dog walker this morning and he remarked on how cloudy and polluted it looks now. Several more trees and large branches have come down, there seems to be a policy of leaving them blocking the water reducing flow. John Sutton at the EA expressed an interest in getting involved with this. | |

| Thanks for bumping that one James! Yes at the time you first asked Andy, the area was quite clean, but was down there last weekend and with the hot weather people have been camping out in the park and there's picnic rubbish everywhere all blown in to the undergrowth. A few cones have made it back in to the river too. The balsam is starting to come up also.
With the long weekend and schools half-term starting tomorrow I've taken the 9-days-for-the-price-of-3 holiday option, so (for me) almost any day next week is possible, but perhaps Sunday 10th would be a good choice.

| Apologies that we havn't done any of these clean-ups for a while. By popular demand and following on from the success of last years' effort, we will be running this one again on Sunday 10th June. Meet at 9:30am as per the red X on this map: Red lines indicate parking areas. Yellow highlight indicates litter pick area. | |

| The emphasis of the TAC has changed, we are doing less clean ups, no litter pick as a group since Feb.
But we are evolving and with the likes of Riverfly, the Eel trap, Abbey River pennywort removal, Penton Hook etc and ongoing plans, its is different now. The level of meetings that we are attending and getting invited to has grown massively and that is huge credit to the organisation, if it happens on the Thames, or concerns the Thames, rather than trying to sneak in through the back door, we are first to be asked.
Really depends what you the members want, more clean ups, please do as in the past post up your ideas, we really do need your input and enthusiasm !!

| Keith, young Jack and Will were who i had in mind when i said individuals are litter picking/ removing invasive plants under the TAC banner. it was a observation and not a criticism from the EA. as david pointed out we are involed in a lot more projects this year than ever before......Wow me defending the EA that would not have happened if i didnt join the TAC | |

| It's very difficult to make the time to organise these things amongst kids activites, work commitments and so on, I know we've been quiet on the clean-up front of late but just look at all the other things going on. As ever, if anyone finds an area that is in need of attention, or just wants a saturday or sunday morning social along the bank, just shout up and I'm sure a team will be mustered | |

| It is different as our former chairman who left in Sep 2011 had a lot of time to put into the weekends, thats the single biggest change to the clean ups. We did ask for a clean up coordinator to step up through our news letter in March but didnt get any replies. The EA's comments probably come from my conversations about how the TAC has moved on since last year, they know the score and to be honest every little bit you guys do is brilliant. Whether like the Crazy Crab, down to picking up some line off the bank or you Wille being guardian of the Brook, reporting illegal fishing it all counts, all of it Now can someone tell me why google wont index one of our web pages, grrrrr. (yes a dull day in the office) | |

| It looks like the council have cleaned up a lot of the litter in the park this week. Also the surrounding vegetation (largely stinging nettles) has grown up a lot recently. So there's not a huge amount of work to do on Sunday, Just a few cones, some fallen branches, and an area of himalayan balsam.
So what I am saying is, I don't want anyone making a hugely long journey for this please!
If we finish it quickly we could move on down to Ham or Teddington afterwards and do a bit of work there.

| High tide tomorrow is 8:05am so will be well on the way down, come along for a walk along the semi-tidal afterwards.
See you tomorrow 9:30 bottom of Old Palace Lane, Richmond, TW9.
Parking is either there, but pay and display, or on the opposite side of the river for free in Ranalagh Drive.

| Thanks Trevor and Matthew for coming along, we had a good old banter along the banks of the Mini-Ha-Ha, collected 3 bags of rubbish (mostly cans), a shopping trolley, a bicycle, 6 traffic cones, a traffic lamp and a sleeping bag. Another sleeping bag (underneath the railway arches) still had somebody in it so we left that behind. We also removed a fair number of fallen branches and raked some larger ones in to the side of the stream. Spotted a shoal of good sized bream and one much larger fish. Found some tangled line, a float and a telescopic rod buried in the undergrowth. Half time Final score | |
