| I'd like to do a litter-pick / clean-up from Ham to Teddington one morning. The plan would be to meet at Ham car park and clean up down to Teddington Lock, particularly concentrating on the area around the Thames Mariners lock gates. I'm tentatively proposing the morning of Sunday 19th February to see how many are interested?
edit: Confirming that it's going to be on Sunday 12th Feb. now.

| count me in ed,we have to start doing these clean up/social events on a regular basis. the banks of our river dont clean itself. also remember lads and lassies, anyone can organise these events, you dont have to wait on a post, post it yourself if you see a stretch that needs a good seeing too | |

| I'll probably leave my car at Teddington and walk up to Ham too, we want to pick the rubbish and take it along to the end where we can leave it rather than having to carry it all back to the start and the lock has good bin provisions.
Bus 371 runs Richmond to Kingston on the Ham side but anyone who might need a lift, post up where you're coming from and we can usually sort something out.
Litter pickers, bin bags and gloves are all provided, but need a wheelbarrow or carp trolley for the full bags and any big stuff, can anyone bring one?
High tide on 19th Feb is at 13:06 so the lock gates will open about 11:00 and it will start coming up. An alternative date may be the week before, Sunday 12th, when high tide is 05:42 so it would be low all day. If we start at 9:00 we're normally done/had enough after 2 hours though and then you could fish the incoming tide at Teddington?
Which date do people prefer?

| Yes I was just waiting to see if there's a huge number of people saying that they can't do 12th please keep it on 19th. Don't want to muck people about now, so let's just say it's on 12th and that's it.

| Guys when I was at Ted on Friday, the Swingbridge team had been along there, so worth checking it out prior to the day. There will be loads of cr*p off the tide but still check it out. | |

| TLS is a groups of councils and have never been able top make contact, despite meeting the chair at a Rugs event. I emailed and called a many times and gave up to be honest. 200 +big bags of rubbish collected by TAC members says it all, also that its a massive task covering the whole river. So doing what we do best | |

| Ah should have realized, all their contact emails are @richmond.gov.uk so it is just a cover for getting volunteers to do work which the council should be doing, but the council trying to keep control over it.

| Walked from Ham car park to Teddington this morning, no work has been done on that stretch by any other organisations since my first visit, all the same rubbish is still there waiting for us to clear it. Rather a too much perhaps - all hands on deck! From the towpath much of the area looks fine but wander in amongst the trees and there's absolutely loads of litter. Thames Young Mariners lock gates are a real hot-spot. Not too many large items but notably a pub CO2 gas cylinder, chemical toilet tank and a couple of cones. A Tesco's mini-trolley awaits, containing £1 reward for returning it. We will need a wheelbarrow or sturdy carp trolley (or two) (my wheelbarrow has rusted to bits, where's the best place to get a cheapie replacement?) "Before" event photos coming ... | |
