Check out the 2 pics at the bottom of this article:

http://www.fishingmagic.com/news_events/news/15217.html

Gorgeous fish, just gorgeous.

Stick your silly commercial puddles up your a*rse when you've got such an amazing river to fish.

My thoughts are:

  1. Beautiful fish
  2. Unfortunately those photo's somewhat detract from the pollution item which that web page is about as there is insufficient information supplied with them. The incident wasn't anywhere near Molesey weir.

I'd prefer if the Salmon photo's were removed from there and put in their own separate "good news" story with detailed background, how did they come to be trapped at Molesey, were they stockies or did they migrate up there, etc. I'm sure I read not long ago (was it a Keith Arthur column?) that no Salmon have been seen in the Thames for years and the EA aren't stocking them and have no plans to do so.

hi ed i agree with you. its brilliant to see both salmon and sea trout returning to our river Very Happy

the 2kg sea trout must have been to sea and back at least once.

the 5kg salmon must have been to sea and back 5 maybe more times

they are both migratory fish,a phenomenum that amazes me

Gents

Am I being cynical to suggest that this may be a PR stunt to detract from the appalling current situation. Was any TAC member around when they were caught?

lol!

A fair bit of cynicism then. Fair play....you may be right lads.

Would be great if it was a true story and not 'spin'.

There is some advantage in pointing out to Joe Public that it's not 'only' Roach, Bream. Flounders etc that are at risk of being periodically wiped out, the mighty salar will also turn turtle if the sewage problems are not sorted. They are a sort of fishy Panda after all!

Can sort of see it both ways, but talking to my son and his mates who row on the tideway, it seems that patience with the status quo on sewage is finally wearing thin. Let's hope so.

Wonderful pictures though.

maybe if those 2 fish were dead on the foreshore, the impact amongst non-anglers would be greater

If they had been in that section of the river at the time, they would be!
